The Glory and the Nothing of a Name
with Noeline Bridge
Although most personal names are straightforward to index, those that aren't can pose some vexing and time-consuming problems. Noeline will be guiding participants through the most common problems in indexing them, illustrated by examples from her own indexing, where possible, and otherwise from questions posed on group lists, along with the thinking involved in coming to a decision.
Participants will receive advice from Noeline’s experience regarding
- How to sort out what part of a complex name comes first
- When and how to add or cut parts of shorter or longer names
- When and how to distinguish between different people with similar names, and others who are known by more than one name
Copies of the PowerPoint slides will be distributed to participants before the webinar.
