They’re back—the ASI Indexing Awards!

Last year the American Society for Indexing (ASI) revamped its indexing awards program to better reflect the variety of work that indexers do. Instead of recognizing a single winner, the competition was divided into two broad categories, trade books and scholarly/technical books. This makeover was a success. The two winning indexes came from vastly different publications: one on keyboards, and the other on lit crit. You can read all about the 2024 winners here.

The 2025 competition for the ASI Indexing Awards is now open. You are invited to submit a final PDF version (publisher's copy) of a book that you indexed with a publication date of 2024 for consideration in either the trade book or scholarly/technical categories.

The first-place winners will each receive $500. Submissions will be accepted through July 25, 2025. A complete list of rules and an entry form for this year's competition can be found here.

Questions regarding the ASI Awards process can be directed to Amy Hall, Chair of the Awards Committee.
