Mentorship is a great tool for improving or acquiring skills in indexing. That being said, it can be challenging to establish this type of relationship outside of an organized program. Whether it is the initial approach or deciding on a process that will work for everyone, there are roadblocks that can stop the process in its tracks. During this hour, we will walk through establishing a successful independent mentorship. With a focus on communication and clear expectations, this webinar will leave you with the tools to make an effective plan that respects everyone’s time and resources and results in a successful sharing of skills.

• Gain tools for successful partnerships that enhance your indexing process and save you time.
• Understand how to establish, plan for, and approach a mentor/mentee relationship that is beneficial for everyone involved.

Carlisle Froese has been an indexer for over half a decade and chaired the ISC/SCI’s Mary Newberry Mentorship program for three years. She is passionate about learning and the accessibility of knowledge. Having benefited early in her career from the generosity of the shared knowledge and mentorship of other indexers, she wants to continue to promote and support the idea of mentorship as a rising tide raises all boats.

Best Practices for Optimal Viewing

Here are best practices to improve your viewing experience of this webinar presentation. Please be aware that the setup of your computer and software impacts the quality of your connection.

Streaming services may adjust the quality of your video stream from standard definition (such as 240p or 360p) to high definition (720p or 1080p) based on the speed of your Internet connection (bandwidth). For this reason, you may notice that the quality of your video changes as you watch videos.

For an optimum experience, we recommend that you turn off other computer applications. Ask others at your location to avoid excessive use of the internet such as video streaming. Use a wired connection, rather than wireless, if possible. Also ensure that your browser is updated. It is good practice to reboot your computer before joining the live event.
