Atholl completed his MA in English at the University of St. Andrews. He also has a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering and is a UK chartered engineer with more than 40 years’ industrial experience in mechanical and electrical engineering. He is a qualified proofreader and editor and has completed the ASI indexing course.

He has extensive experience in drafting and editing of technical documents, multidisciplinary academic publications, dissertations and theses. He has worked extensively with and mentored people for whom English is a second language.

Atholl’s indexing strengths are in the engineering, technical, physics, chemistry and general scientific fields as well as in English literature. He also undertakes contract assignments, thesis and journal editing, and blog and website editing.

His other interests are literature, classical music and matters celestial.
