- Galaxy: you can browse or search this list of web sources.
- Yahoo: browsable list of web resources. A few items have descriptions, but most of the browsing is guess-work.

- Google Groups search engine DejaNews has morphed into this
- Infomine searches for government-related home pages.
- Listserver lists: as its name suggests, it is a list of listservers. Browse by topic or alphabetically.
- MediaFinder (directories of magazines, newsletters, and catalogs)
- Switchboard searches for people's phone numbers and addresses.
- U.S. Patent and Trademark Office: search and view patent documents from the U.S. dating from 1790 to the present.
