What is a Peer Review?
This special session offers an opportunity for indexers to sit down
face-to-face with experienced colleagues to have their indexes reviewed.
Reviewers will examine and discuss the overall structure of the index,
use of cross-references, double-postings, main entries, subheadings, and
other features of concern to the specific topic of the index.
Specifics about the Review:
Indexers should present the index for review in indented format and double-spaced.
Those wishing to have an index reviewed must submit the specialty or subject
area of the index she or he will bring to the session, so that the coordinators
can schedule a 20-minute session with a reviewer experienced with the
area.
Fees and Review Policies:
There will be a limit of 20 reviews on a first-come, first-served basis,
and each indexer is limited to one review. The Peer Review Sessions are
costed separately from the conference as a whole, at $50 a session. They
are scheduled on Friday, 12:00pm – 2:00pm and will not conflict with other
programs. Participants will be assigned a 20-minute slot and will have
plenty of time for lunch.
