Committee charge: ASI is what it is because of the hard work and service ethic of its members. Recognizing their efforts is an important task in maintaining the Society as a viable organization. In addition, as an institution dedicated to the furtherance of the art and science of indexing, we need to identify and celebrate excellence in the craft. With these two purposes in mind, the awards and honors committee was founded. The committee has two primary goals:

• Brainstorming, designing, and writing rules for new forms of awards and honors.
• Overseeing the executive administration of existing awards.

Existing awards have their own committees, but the awards and honors committee has general oversight over their activities and stands ready to assist them with the interpretation of rules.
